How It Started . . .

The Humanity Preservation Foundation our parent company began its operation in 2013 co-founded by Charles Custer & Rhett Hackett and has successfully  remained focused with their mission to educate to prevent and assist those victimized by child abuse, domestic violence and bullying! The primary goal was to provide a platform for individuals to tell their story and help others .  This would include blog posts, Sunday Stories newsletter, a TV show Handsoff on the RVNTV network and a podcast.  Additionally speaking out in high schools, colleges and universities.  It didn't take long before it was realized that there was a much bigger picture unfolding!

“I like it [Recovery Your Way] because I get to express how I’m feeling around people who won’t judge me for me.  It’s helped me realize that no matter how hard life is there’s gonna be people who care to hear your story”

The Orange meets Purple Spark

Learning that many people recovering from childhood trauma were also battling the struggle of addiction - a common residual effect as described in the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) report HPF focused educating that child abuse of any kind including neglect and abandonment  was fueling self destructive behavior as described in a piece on their website by Siarra Santiago.

When one of their own members of the team Josh Hubler spoke about his own abuse he suffered in a behavior modification school  that would consequently lead to a struggle that HPF president Rhett Hackett would assist in getting to a better place with his trauma.  Their story would lead to an event called  "Orange meets Purple" that connected childhood trauma & addiction.  It highlighted the need that in order to help those recover from addiction it would also require the need to address the

root cause . . . the trauma! The challenge to educate and assist was on!

“I really appreciated being a part of the webinar and trying to raise awareness about addiction.  We need to tell our stories and help educate our communities about the stigma of addiction”

Recovery YOUR Way

The idea . . . create a self empowerment recovery platform that would provide a safe, non-judging environment in which ALL people were welcomed regardless of their method of recovery.  This meant that while other platforms would not welcome medical assisted recovery methods, or  non-spiritual vs secular,  Recovery Your Way would openly welcome EVERYONE provided they were simply committed to recovering!

On Sunday, August 15, 2021 Josh Hubler & Rhett Hackett, co-founders of Recovery Your Way kicked off its first meeting and have continued to do so every week.  Additionally, they committed to providing a recovery after recovery program- picking up the pieces of your life after you put down the substances.  Providing speakers and hosting webinars on subjects like building life skills, training on Narcan or how to create a resume and/or search for a job!

It all starts with ONE meeting!  It ALL starts with YOU!

This is what Recovery YOUR Way looks like!
